ProHours vs Harvest: Time Tracking and Invoicing Compared
Harvest is, alongside Toggl, one of the most established tools combining time tracking with invoicing. It's solid and well known — but after its 2025 change of ownership (acquired by Bending Spoons) and the new 2026 pricing model, it's worth checking how accessible it still is for a freelancer or a small team just starting out.
Quick comparison

The real difference: Harvest's free plan is for testing, not for working
Harvest's free plan technically includes invoicing, but the 1-user, 2-project limit makes it practically unusable beyond a quick trial — any freelancer with more than one active client already exceeds it. On top of that, the new 2026 pricing model adds usage charges once you exceed the invoices, projects, clients, or tasks included in the base rate, making it harder to predict your real monthly cost as the business grows.
ProHours limits by volume of time entries (30/month on the free plan), not by number of projects or clients — you can have as many clients and projects as you need on the free plan, as long as the total volume of logged hours stays within the limit.
When Harvest makes more sense
- You've already used Harvest for years and have accounting integrations (Xero, QuickBooks) built around it.
- Your team is large and needs organization-level profitability and capacity reports, which Harvest offers on its higher plans.
- The new usage-based pricing model is predictable for your specific volume.
When ProHours makes more sense
- You work with several clients or projects at once and Harvest's free-plan limit of 2 projects doesn't cut it.
- You prefer a predictable cost per usage tier instead of variable charges once you cross a threshold.
- You need real-time client budgets (buckets) or automated recurring work.
